Standard Hot Water Tanks

We provide service and maintenance for all brands and models of hot water tanks.   When you call R&B Plumbing for service, you never have to ask if we can work on your brand of water heater, you can be confident that we do. Unfortunately, hot water tanks have a finite life span and spending money replacing a major appliance is never a fun endeavor.  While we can’t make it fun, we can make it easy, and worry free!

You can have peace of mind in knowing that when you call R&B Plumbing to replace your tank, it will be done professionally. All replacements include draining, disconnect, removal, and disposal of the old tank, purchase and installation of the new tank including all parts and connectors needed to complete the job to code.

All work is done by a journeyman plumber with who is also a licensed gas fitter.  All joins, seams, and connections will be tested for leaks.  When we are finished the site will be clean and all garbage removed for you.

The following are important points to note when choosing a new hot water heater:

  1. Pricing: All pricing is based on size. When choosing the size of your new tank, consider the number of people living in the house as well as their ages. We all know that teenagers use a lot of hot water!  As well, if you have an oversized bath tub it is better to move to the next size tank since the price difference is generally marginal in comparison to the size of the job.  Our estimators can help you decide on the tank that’s right for you.  Once a size is decided upon we can quote you a replacement cost over the phone.
  2. Warranty: Hot water tanks come with various warranty lengths. If you are replacing yours due to failure, let us check first to see if it is still under warranty.  Simply call our office and provide us with the serial number and we will do the work for you.  The tanks we sell come with an 8 year warranty.  We feel this is the right combination between the quality of construction and risk vs. return. The tanks with the longer warranties are not built differently; they simply have the added cost of an extended warranty built into the manufacturers price. Our installation workmanship is guaranteed for one year.
  3. Inspection: Your hot water tank should be inspected once per year. This important component is usually overlooked.  When you join our R&B Maintenance Plan, we remember for you.  Whether you book the call or we do, our experienced journeymen will perform a thorough service on the unit including:
  • Clean and inspect the burner assembly
  • Inspect the exhaust venting checking for a good seal
  • Test the pressure relief value
  • Inspect the electrical and ensure all circuits are tight and fuses are good
  • Check all points of the tank for signs of leaking, cracking or corrosion
  • Check the temperature on the tank for the correct range and check with the home owner if we change it.
  • Cycle the tank to ensure it is firing correctly
  • Record tank model and serial number for our warranty records
  • If the tank is less than five years old we will flush out the sediments by draining some water off the bottom of the tank.  If the tank is older than five years old it is not our practice to perform this type of maintenance as we have found it can cause the tank to fail prematurely. If there is an expansion tank we will service that as well.
